Gabilan Creek
The lower Gabilan Creek restoration area is located between East Laurel Street and Constitution Blvd, and is managed by both the City of Salinas and Monterey County.
Under an Urban Streams Grant from the Department of Water Resources, the Habitat Stewardship Project (HSPMB) work at Gabilan Creek has included litter cleanup, weed removal, and the restoration of native plants to a 2-acre stretch of riparian and upland area along the east bank of Gabilan Creek. The 2003-2005 restoration efforts at the Gabilan Creek site has included 12,000 native shrubs and trees and 20,000 native grasses.
