Jason Maas-Baldwin '08: Science teacher

I graduated from the CSUMB Masters in Coastal and Watershed Science & Policy program in 2008. I did not know exactly where I'd end up once I had my degree but the Masters program provided me with a diverse array of opportunities that, in addition to being educational, guided me to a career that I am genuinely passionate about.

At CSUMB I was given the opportunity to work in the field in many settings from local lagoons to the snow covered mountains of Yellowstone National Park. Among many other things, I was given the opportunity to teach science as a graduate student. This is where I found my passion for what I do today.
I now work as a science teacher at Carmel High School. Working with students to connect them with the natural world is an incredibly personally gratifying experience. I love what I do and a huge reason for my success can be traced back to the opportunities and education that I received at CSUMB.
