Karen Wisdom is a graduate of the University of Arizona (Tucson) where she earned a BA in English, with a Writing emphasis and a minor in Philosophy. She has an M.A. in Education - Curriculum and Instruction, and is also a graduate of the CSUMB/ITCD MIST program - Masters in Instructional Science and Technology. Her third Master’s degree and current doctoral study is in Education (with an emphasis in Language, Literacy, & Culture) at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Karen grew up in Las Vegas, NV, and moved to Tucson, AZ for college. After receiving her BA, she continued living in Arizona until 2000, when she moved to California to work at Stanford University. From there, she moved to the Monterey Bay area where she has been an advisor and lecturer at CSUMB since 2003. In addition, she has always taught at least one class a semester at local community colleges - Pima Community College (Tucson), Canada College (Redwood City), Hartnell College (Salinas), and currently Gavilan College (Gilroy).
