Otter Athletics relaunches fundraising program for student-athletes

CSU Monterey Bay’s Athletics Department has relaunched the Otter Athletics Fund, its official annual fundraising program to support the academic and athletic success of current and future CSUMB student-athletes. All gifts to the fund directly impact current student-athletes through scholarships and sport-specific program enhancements such as travel, equipment, training and technology.

John Fraire, New Interim Vice President of Student Affairs

CSUMB President Eduardo M. Ochoa is pleased to announce that effective April 26, Dr. John Fraire will be the Interim Vice President of Student Affairs. Dr. Fraire’s appointment will extend until a national search is carried out and the position is filled on a permanent basis. Dr. Ronnie Higgs has announced his intention to retire after this academic year. In the interim, he will act as Special Advisor to the President regarding student affairs and enrollment management matters.

Life on Campus Amid COVID-19

When the CSU announced most instruction would be delivered remotely for the remainder of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of the roughly 3,600 CSUMB students who usually live on campus left. But a subset of the student population had no place else to go.

I am reaching out to you on the day that the jury in the George Floyd murder case rendered its verdict of guilty on all counts. This outcome may provide some measure of comfort to Mr. Floyd’s family and raises some hope that our country may be able to make progress toward racial justice and equity after so much pain and anguish in our African-American community.
