Life on Campus Amid COVID-19

When the CSU announced most instruction would be delivered remotely for the remainder of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of the roughly 3,600 CSUMB students who usually live on campus left. But a subset of the student population had no place else to go.

I am reaching out to you on the day that the jury in the George Floyd murder case rendered its verdict of guilty on all counts. This outcome may provide some measure of comfort to Mr. Floyd’s family and raises some hope that our country may be able to make progress toward racial justice and equity after so much pain and anguish in our African-American community.

The Otter Cross Cultural Center and Otter Student Union hosted a virtual evening chat with actress and LGBTQ+ advocate Laverne Cox on Thursday, April 8. Cox shared her experience being a transgender actress, and she imparted a message about self-love and resilience for CSUMB students.
