Growing out of the first observance in 1970, Earth Day 2021: “Restore Our Earth” on April 22 will involve more than one billion people in 192 countries, making it the largest civic observance in the world, organizers say. At CSU Monterey Bay, integrating environmentalism and sustainability into all areas of our campus every day is a vital part of our core mission to serve students. The Otter Cross Cultural Center and Otter Student Union hosted a virtual evening chat with actress and LGBTQ+ advocate Laverne Cox on Thursday, April 8. Cox shared her experience being a transgender actress, and she imparted a message about self-love and resilience for CSUMB students.

CARES grant invests $750K in CSUMB efforts to help small businesses recover from pandemic

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration announced a $749,810 CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to the University Corporation at Monterey Bay on Thursday, April 8. The grant will provide technical assistance to coronavirus-impacted small businesses and support the economic resiliency of the Monterey Bay region. It is expected to create 35 jobs, retain 200 jobs, and generate $3 million in private investment, a news release.
