Kimberlyn Forté
I came to CSUMB in 2018 as a GWAR instructor for Health, Human Services and Public Policy where I also taught Principles of Grantsmanship, Service Learning and Capstone. I also acted as a curriculum coordinator and created an Academic Writing Workshop. Alongside CST, I currently teach GWAR, Service Learning, and Capstone for HDFS. I hold a Master’s of Education in Secondary Education with a concentration in Reading and a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education with an English major, both from Bowling Green State University. These are supported by lifetime Ohio teaching credentials in English, Reading, Speech, and Drama. After leaving secondary education, I taught at Monterey Peninsula College as part of the remedial reading lab. My academic interests revolve around developing innovative curricula that promote active learning and literacy enhancement. I was a member of the Secondary Education curriculum development team with The Dickens Project at UC Santa Cruz. I most recently received my TESOL certification from UC San Diego. With over 30 years of dedicated teaching experience in secondary and post-secondary institutions, I am committed to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments where all students can thrive. Outside of the classroom, I am interested in the use of interactive technology in public gardens and historical sites.
