About the Department

The mathematics major at CSUMB was established in 2003 with our first graduating class in spring 2005. Over the years we have grown and added an additional major in statistics, and minors in mathematics, statistics, and data science. Our graduates have gone to be teachers at middle schools, high schools, community colleges, and universities around the country (and world), worked in industry as actuaries, data scientists, and industrial mathematicians, and completed Master's and PhDs in pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and data science at schools such as Brown University, MIT, USC, Stanford University, UCLA, UCSC, and Cal State East Bay.
