Program Application Instructions - MAE plus Single Subject Credential

After submitting your Cal State Apply application, you will receive a link to submit the following materials :Some will be documents you upload, others will be entered into the application form.

Before you begin the program application

Items needed for the Interfolio program application

Resume or CV

You will need to upload a resume or CV. Your resume should include dates and appropriate activities such as:

  • Experiences working with youth
  • Extracurricular and community involvement
  • Special skills and experiences
  • Locations you have lived or traveled other than your current residence

Transcripts

You will need to upload your bachelor's degree transcript and transcripts from every college or university you have attended.

Personal statement

You will upload your personal statement. It should be 1-2 pages typed. It must address

  • Why you want to be a teacher?
  • What led you to this decision?
  • How do you, as a teacher, hope to make a difference?

Basic education skills test score

You will upload a copy of your Basic Educational Skills Test results.

You will also be asked to enter:

  • Which type of exam you took
  • The date you took or will take the exam
  • Test score

CSET score

You will upload a copy of your CSET results.

You will also be asked to enter:

  • The date you took or will take your CSET exam
  • CSET Score

Tuberculosis test

You will upload a copy of your negative TB test results.

You will also be asked to enter the date you took your TB test.

Character identification clearance/fingerprints

You will upload a copy of your Character Identification Clearance / Fingerprints.

You will also enter the date you got your fingerprint clearance.

CPR with first aid certification

You will upload a copy of your CPR with First Aid Certification.

You will also enter the date you got your certification.

Three letters of recommendation

Three references will need to submit letters of recommendation and complete recommendation forms.

Reference contact information

You will need to enter contact information for your three references. For each reference, you will need to provide:

  • First and last name
  • Job title and employer
  • Email address

Prerequisite course information

US Constitution

If you met this prerequisite by taking a class, you will need to enter

  • Name of university where you took the class
  • Whether is was a semester, quarter or other term
  • The name of the class
  • The course code (i.e. HIST 101)
  • How many units the course was
  • The grade you recieved

If you have not taken a course that meets this requirement, you may complete the exam at http://usconstitutionexam.com.

If you completed the prerequisite requirements with an exam (AP, CLEP, etc.), upload a scanned copy of your results.

Educational history

You will need to enter information for every university you have attended. For each university, you must provide:

  • Name of university
  • Total units completed
  • Total grade points
  • Total GPA

English proficiency

If you are an international student or your previous education was primarily in a language other than English, you will need to upload a scanned copy of your TOEFL/EILTS to the Interfolio Dossier.

You will also need to enter the following information into the application form:

  • Date you took or will take the TOEFL
  • Your TOEFL Total Score
  • Date you took or will take IELTS
  • IELTS Band Score
