Summer programs

As a comprehensive university, Cal State Monterey Bay is active and open year-round. During the summer, the campus is buzzing with academic programs and courses, college prep, K-12 camps, English language programs, research opportunities, conferences, events, and more.

Other CSUMB summer programs & events

  • Upward Bound provides fundamental support and motivation to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in pre-college performance and ultimately in higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves high school students from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree.

  • The EOP Summer Bridge program is a transition program for invited EOP first-time freshmen. The program is designed to help students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to build a bridge from high school to a successful college experience. While at Summer Bridge, the freshmen meet with mentors, experience university lectures, and attend a variety of workshops and presentations. Summer Bridge also is an opportunity for EOP participants to meet each other and the faculty and staff who will be assisting students in the fall.

  • CSUMB is committed to providing the best experience for all of our campers. Otter Athletics offers a wide variety of sports camps to all ages and skill levels. We have a history of helping campers improve athletic skills, develop friendships, and learn lessons in leadership, teamwork, and responsibility.

  • As a nonpartisan center for the study or public policy, the Panetta Institute helps our communities and our country meet the challenges of the 21st century. The Institute works in particular to attract thoughtful young men and women to lives of public service, helping them to expand their knowledge of the policy process and develop their skills as future leaders. The Institute has several offerings during the summer, including the Annual Leadership Seminar.

  • Camp SEA Lab fosters lifelong excitement, scientific understanding, and stewardship of our coasts and ocean by providing quality marine oriented programs that promote Science, Education and Adventure for youth, families and teachers.

  • The American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) provides an opportunity to learn and/or enhance English from knowledgeable, friendly (ESL) experts. The program is for students who wish to improve their English skills for professional development or academic preparation. Contact ALCP at studyenglish@csumb.edu.

  • The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC) offers many exciting programs and events over the summer, including the Transfer Student Summer Research Program , workshops, and events.
