Summer Research Symposium
Each summer, our REU students present their final research projects at the CSUMB Summer Research Symposium. The symposium is a collaboration between the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC), the Monterey Bay Regional Ocean Science Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, the Naval Post Graduate School (NPS), and Hartnell Community College.
On August 9, 2019, the 6th Annual CSUMB Summer Research Symposium celebrated the research and creative activities of the undergraduate students in UROC, REU, and NPS internship programs.
The symposium comprised of 25 oral presentations (11 REU, 10 UROC, and 4 NPS) and 82 research posters (64 UROC, and 18 NPS).
On August 10, 2018, the 5th Annual CSUMB Summer Research Symposium celebrated the research and creative activities of the undergraduate students in UROC, REU, and NPS internship programs. A highlight of the event was Congressman Jimmy Panetta provided remarks during the mentor and partner celebrations.
The 2017 Summer Research Symposium became a key mark to the end of the summer at CSUMB, taking place Aug 11th, 2017. The symposium grew once again, taking up all three floors of the Tanimura and Antle Family Memorial Library and comprised of 25 oral presentations (13 REU, 8 UROC, and 4 NPS) and 67 research posters (45 UROC, 20 NPS, and 2 Hartnell Community College).
Summer 2016 culminated in the largest CSUMB Summer Research Symposium taking up all three floors of the Tanimura and Antle Family Memorial Library on Aug 12th, 2016.
The symposium comprised of 21 oral presentations (11 REU, 6 UROC, and 4 NPS) and 51 research posters (48 UROC, 20 NPS, and 3 Hartnell Community College).
The 2015 CSUMB Summer Research Symposium, held Aug. 14th 2015, celebrated the research and creative activities of the undergraduate students in the Monterey Bay Regional Ocean Sciences Research Experiences for Undergraduates ( REU) and Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center ( UROC) Programs.
The symposium included talks by the 11 REU students and over thirty posters by CSUMB undergraduate researchers. Together, these two programs worked with numerous research institutions in the Monterey Bay area. As well as a celebration of student achievement, the symposium was an impressive demonstration to just how active research is in our community.
