Personal Growth and Counseling Center

Amy Miller, PsyD

Passionate about clinical training and college student mental health; Dr. Miller has the privilege of serving as the Training Lead at the Personal Growth and Counseling Center. She has over 10 years of experience working within university counseling centers and feels passionate about meeting the psychological needs of the student body. Particular areas of clinical interest include depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, interpersonal problems, exploring history surrounding family of origin and its impact on the present, disordered eating and body image concerns, and spirituality.

Dr. Miller has had the pleasure of providing supervision and training to clinical psychology graduate students over the years and will be implementing those skills within the PGCC. She is actively working to develop a full-time doctoral internship for clinical psychology graduate students in their final year of training. The internship will focus on developing culturally-competent clinical, crisis, consultation, outreach educational skills with a university counseling center. It is the hope that this internship will provide additional therapists, services, and resources for the student population at CSUMB. Dr. Miller works from a developmental approach within her supervision. This means providing more structure and framework in the initial portion of training and progressing to collaborative work with supervisees to take on increasing levels of autonomy as appropriate.

When outside of the office, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time with her family, adventuring around beautiful Monterey County with her two dogs, and traveling to experience new cultures. She also enjoys participating in obstacle races, exercise in all forms, and live music.
