We are mostly Marine Science and Biology majors doing some way-cool research projects while learning useful electronics, robotics, and programming skills.
We conduct marine ecology and biomechanics research projects using custom robots and instrumentation systems we design and build ourselves. Mostly we study benthic marine ecology in the Monterey Bay region, but we also work on the occasional terrestrial or fresh water project and have collaborations around the world. We also use our inventions to assist schools, agencies, and community organizations with ecosystem monitoring, research, or education. Our technical specialties include:
- remotely-operated underwater vehicles (ROVs)
- custom camera and sensor systems for ecosystem monitoring
- web-based telepresence in remote habitats
- wildlife & fish surveillance
