CHSHS National Minority Health Month Speaker Series
The President's Speaker Series continues on April 27, 2015 with David Helvarg.
In honor of April as National Minority Health Month, we will be hosting a CHSHS speaker series examining crucial issues in minority health and diversification of leadership in health and human services professions. On April 21, 12:00-2:00 pm, at the Alumni & Visitors Center, we will host Dr. Debra Joy Perez, Vice President of Research, Evaluation and Learning of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. In this motivational talk, she will be presenting her experience as a first generation-educated Latina and the struggles she overcame to succeed in a predominantly white educational environment.
Dr. Guido Urizar, a Psychology professor from CSULB will share his research findings regarding stress and cortisol levels among low income African American and Latina women. Dr. Ignacio Navarro, a CHHS professor, will share an overview of the health issues of the tri-county region that have been revealed in the United Way Impact Survey.
They will be presenting on Thursday, April 23 at 2:00 pm at the Alumni Visitor's Center. We hope that you will be able to join us for the first annual Minority Health Month Speaker Series.
