Keynote Speaker: Dr. Joanna Wong, Assistant Professor in the CSUMB Elementary Education Program, is committed to preparing teachers to provide culturally and linguistically responsive language and literacy education to diverse students. She grounds her teaching and research in over 14 years of experience working in the Oakland Unified School District as an elementary teacher, site-based instructional coach at a dual-language immersion school, and district literacy specialist. Dr. Wong holds a Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture with specializations in Second Language Acquisition and Writing, Rhetoric, and Composition Studies from the UC Davis School of Education.
