If you are NOT graduating, you will need to be checked out of your spring assignment by 12 noon on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

If you are graduating, you will be allowed to check out by 12 noon on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

All items must be removed from your room and the space cleaned before you are ready to checkout. If you rearranged the furniture in your room, please make sure it is put back the way it was when you first moved in. Charges may apply for furniture that is not returned to its original configuration.

Students with Summer Housing assignments may need to check-out of their spring assignments by Saturday, May 19, 2018. Additional information will be sent to summer residents regarding the summer check-in procedure and when they will need to check-out of their Spring assignment.

The Summer Housing Application opens Monday, April 2. If you are planning on taking Summer courses log-in to the My Housing App. All applications are due by May 4, 2018.

Main Campus

You can pick up a check out envelope from either our Main Campus Housing Office or the Promontory Housing Office starting May 1, 2018.

Return your check out envelope with your keys inside to either the Main Campus Housing Office or the Promontory Housing Office.

Graduating residents will be allowed to check out by 12 noon on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Graduates still need to follow the same check out process by either picking up a check out envelope, or scheduling a check-out appointment with our office. Be on time for your check-out appointment.

If you need to arrange a checkout after May 19, 2018, you will need approval from your Community Director. Depending on the length of the request, you may be asked to submit an Exception to Policy Request form.

Please note that not all requests for a late check out will be approved. More information is available from your Community Director. The deadline to request a late check out is Friday, April 27, 2018.

Please note that if approved, you may be asked to pay the per day rate for the amount of additional days you will be staying. This payment is due by Friday, May 18, 2018.

Meal Plans

All Student Housing Meal Plans end Saturday, May 19, 2018 at noon. Unused blocks and flex dollars will not be rolled over to the Fall Semester, and will be deleted after Saturday, May 19, 2018. Please visit the Dining Services website at for more information on which dining options will be open on Saturday and their hours of operation.

Mail Services

Mail will stop being delivered to all Residence Halls and North Quad Buildings on Friday May 18. All parcel mail left behind in mailboxes will be returned to sender and any packages in the University Mail Room not picked up by Friday, May 18, 2018, will be returned to sender.

It is important you update your address information with employers, magazine subscriptions, etc. for the Summer and Fall. You can fill out a change of address form, to have your mail forwarded to your permanent address. Mail Forwarding can be picked up at any Post Office, but will also be available in the Main Campus Student Housing & Residential Life office closer to Spring Move-Out day.

For a nominal fee, you can also complete the Mail Forwarding form online at the USPS website.

Students living on campus during the summer will have letter mail delivered to their summer address. Only students signed up for summer housing will have their mail delivered. All other student mail will be returned to sender.

Summer Building Maintenance

Facilities will begin work in all Residence Halls, North Quad, and Promontory buildings as early as Saturday, May 19, 2018. Residents who are graduating, working commencement, and/or residing in Summer Housing should be prepared for moderate to loud noise and medium to heavy foot traffic. Additionally, pest control will be inspecting all rooms in the Residence Halls, North Quad, and Promontory buildings. While students do not need to be present while pest control completes inspections, students will not be allowed to deny access to their rooms.

Any spring 2018 resident who has checked out of their room properly, and has no additional charges will have their Security Deposit refund processed, as our deposit policies have changed. Please note refunds are not immediate and may not be received until later in the Summer.

We encourage all students to sign up for eRefunds, which allows for your refund to be deposited directly to your bank account. This option is environmentally responsible and allows you to receive your refund faster. A tutorial on how to sign up for eRefunds can be found on the Cal State Monterey Bay eRefunds website.
