Isabelle Bayne Smith Memorial UROC Research Scholarship

The Isabelle Bayne Smith Memorial UROC Research Scholarship is awarded to an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center (UROC) scholar and provides $500 to be used to further the research goals of a first generation college student majoring in Marine Science.

Eligibility

  • Must be enrolled as a CSUMB Student. Transfer students are encouraged to apply.
  • Must be selected and invited into the UROC Scholar’s Program. You will complete both applications concurrently.
  • Preference is given to first generation college students majoring in Marine Science.

Award: The scholarship ($500) will be disbursed as a cash award, and is intended to support the research goals of the student, who will be named the UROC Isabelle Bayne Smith Scholar. The recipient will also enjoy full participation in the UROC scholars program.

Essay Prompt: Please submit a one‐page essay that answers the question: Why is undergraduate research important for first generation college students in Marine Science?
