Dr. Corey Garza Elected to SACNAS Board of Directors
The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) announced the election of SNS's Dr. Corey Garza to their Board of Directors.
Dr. Garza has been involved with SACNAS for over 12 years, mentoring students, chairing and organizing a scientific symposium in Marine Science at the annual SACNAS meetings, and serving as faculty advisor for the CSUMB SACNAS student chapter. Besides teaching several marine science, marine ecology, and GIS courses in SNS, Dr. Garza also serves as principal investigator for the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Program, the Marine Landscape Ecology Lab, and is the director of the Monterey Bay Regional Ocean Science Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program.
SACNAS is an inclusive organization with a 44-year history of fostering the success of Chicano/Hispanic & Native American scientists, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers and positions of leadership in science. They serve approximately 6,000 members, a larger community of 20,000, and with 115 SACNAS student and professional chapters throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
