Alcohol Approvals

Guidelines to Request Alcohol Service at CSUMB

  1. Review the CSUMB Campus Alcohol Policy for complete requirements and policy directions.
  2. Contact the campus dining contractor (Otter Kitchens Catering) to start the service ordering process for any service of alcohol.
  3. Book your event and space following the University Affairs, Conferences and Event Services instructions and submit the online form through 25Live.
  4. Fill out (Adobe-signed) and submit the Alcohol Approval Form at least ten (10) days prior to the event date.

Safety Requirements per CSUMB Alcohol Policy

  • Review the CSUMB Campus Alcohol Policy for complete requirements and policy directions.
  • Alcoholic beverages will be permitted only in conjunction with food service, and will not be permitted before 4:00 pm on weekdays during academic terms.
  • ServeSafe Certified dining staff shall check valid government-issued picture identification to ensure that no guest under 21 years of age is offered or served alcohol.
  • Only beer and/or wine can be served or sold in accordance with applicable campus regulations, policies of the Trustees of the California State University or applicable State laws. The service or sale of distilled spirits and/or malted liquor is not permitted.
  • Non-alcoholic beverages must be as readily available as the alcoholic beverages being served; and, where practical, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages must be served in the same manner.
  • Participants will not be allowed to bring alcoholic beverages to any event, and/or exit an event in possession of open alcoholic beverage containers.
  • When alcohol is to be served as part of a University Event of a Recognized Group (whether on or off campus), such group is responsible for ensuring that all provisions of this policy and all applicable state laws are enforced.
