To the students, your talents and skills show up in many ways and give me hope. It gives me hope for you and me, and for society’s future. That’s why I teach. It feeds me and fills me with hope. Beyond that, what inspires me in my work and research at CSUMB: CSUMB students, faculty, and staff are rich with culture bridging abilities, survival skills, and forward-thinking and I find it inspiring. Is it because of the proximity to the ocean and its’ immensity? Is it because of the proximity to the fields and their grounding nature? Is it because of the unique intersectionality of its people, culture, and societal experiences?
