GradGuard renters insurance program
As a benefit of living on-campus at CSU Monterey Bay, all residents will be automatically enrolled in the GradGuard Renters Insurance Program. This includes protection for a student’s personal belongings from loss due to theft, fire, smoke, vandalism, sprinkler head discharges, burst pipes and other causes of losses.
In addition, unintentional damage students may cause to their residence hall due to fire or the discharge of a sprinkler head can also be covered under the policy.
GradGuard Renters Insurance is a smart investment for college students and their families. With the GradGuard Renters Insurance Plan, personal items that are stolen or damaged by a covered cause of loss can be replaced, subject to a $100 deductible. Here are examples in which this coverage can benefit you as an on-campus student:
- You leave your laptop in the library unattended as you grab lunch, to later find that it was stolen
- You return to the residence halls after class, to find that someone accidentally caused a fire on your floor and the smoke ruined all of your clothes, books and bedding.
- You accidentally hang your clothes on the sprinkler head. Water damage destroys your stuff and the belongings of other residents on your floor.
Be on the lookout for an email from GradGuard with more information, which will be sent to you closer to your move-in date.
