About ISSM

NOTE: The Integrated Studies Special Major (ISSM) has been suspended and is not taking new students as of May 26, 2017.

Have you ever wondered what happens to old clothes when they are thrown in the trash? Are you interested in using technology to help children develop money management skills? Do you want to examine media’s role in propagating political agendas?

Students in the Integrated Studies Special Major explore questions such as these, as they combine multiple academic disciplines to craft a learning pathway tailored just for them.

ISSM offers highly motivated, self-directed students the opportunity to develop an individualized, interdisciplinary course of study. ISSM students work closely with the ISSM Coordinator and at least two other faculty disciplinary advisors to create a major proposal that synthesizes multiple fields.
