Welcome to the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Program
The Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Program (CMEP) is a research and education program within the School of Natural Sciences at California State University, Monterey Bay. Through funding provided by the National Science Foundation and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, CMEP supports basic research to increase our understanding of coastal and marine ecosystems from coastal wetlands to the open ocean and deep sea. Modern technological and Social Science approaches are employed in CMEP research which also helps inform conservation and management of coastal and marine resources at regional and national levels. CMEP research efforts are paired with education and outreach programs that engage diverse stakeholder groups and, provide training for a new generation of ocean scientists. Use the links above to learn more about our programs and opportunities to be involved in CMEP activities.
Primary funding for the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Program is provided by the National Science Foundation and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
