Congratulations to Dr. Angel F. González, whose research on food choices while traveling was highlighted in a recent article by Maggie Hiufu Wongon on CNN.com, highlighting his work on how cultural familiarity influences dining decisions abroad. His insights into how cultural familiarity and comfort influence tourists' dining decisions are part of a fascinating discussion on why we sometimes crave familiar flavors when abroad. Angel González is an associate professor of sustainable hospitality management. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Sciences - Hotel & Restaurant Administration from Oklahoma State University and is qualified as a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE®) through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). Dr. González recently received a GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. His research on topics in the fields of business and sustainable hospitality and tourism management has been published in academic journals such as the Journal of Ecotourism and the Journal of Tourism Analysis.
He currently teaches classes for CSUMB's Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Hospitality & Tourism Management program within the College of Business.
