The College of Business Advances to Next Phase of Accreditation

February 14, 2025
The College of Business has reached a significant milestone on the path to accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). In a recent email from Maria Baltar, AACSB’s Regional Head, Americas, she announced that the Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) has accepted the College’s Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER), marking a major step forward in the accreditation process. With this approval, the College has been invited to begin development of the final Self-Evaluation Report (SER), which includes preparing for a peer review team visit. The official decision letter from the IAC is expected on March 21, 2025.
The College’s comprehensive iSER submission included 108 pages of narrative and 246 pages of appendices, totaling 354 pages of detailed documentation. The submission was strengthened by letters of support from both the Provost and the President, demonstrating the University's firm commitment to achieving accreditation.
This was truly a team effort by the College of Business faculty and staff, and campus administration. Interim Dean Marylou Shockley expressed gratitude to AACSB Accreditation Director Babita Gupta and AACSB Analyst Jennifer Andrew for their work in coordinating the effort. Dr. Shockley expressly thanked Provost Andrew Lawson, Associate Provost for Academic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Dale Grubb, Associate Provost/Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Cindy Juntunen, and Academic Affairs Budget Officer Brian Rice, as well as the members of the Business Advisory Council (BAC) for their support and work on the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (ISER).
As we move forward, the College of Business remains focused on advancing key initiatives, including implementing its 5-year Strategic Plan. This plan will play a pivotal role in shaping the next Self-Evaluation Report (SER), which is set to be submitted in the fall. CSUMB celebrates this achievement and looks ahead with confidence as the College of Business continues its journey toward accreditation.
