Dr. Paige Viren elected to serve on the CalTravel Board of Directors

Dr. Paige Viren has been appointed the At-Large Director for CalTravel and Chair of the Sustainability & Stewardship Committee for a three-year term starting July 1, 2024. CalTravel, representing over 240 organizations in California’s travel and tourism industry, advocates for the sector’s growth and success. Dr. Viren will focus on promoting sustainable practices by collaborating with partners and implementing strategies that benefit both the environment and the industry.

September 23, 2024 – We are excited to announce Dr Paige Viren has been appointed as At Large Director for The California Travel Association (CalTravel). She will also serve as the Chair of CalTravel's Sustainability & Stewardship Committee. The appointment started on July 1st and will run for a three-year term, from 2024 through 2026.

Dr. Viren accepted the appointment with enthusiasm, saying, "Travel and tourism are critical economic drivers for California, and I’m honored to work alongside an incredible team of leaders.

As Chair of the Sustainability & Stewardship Committee, I look forward to educating members on best practices, bringing in thought leaders, and exploring strategies that positively impact the environment, our members’ businesses, and California’s brand. We will collaborate with partners like Visit California and U.S. Travel to enhance sustainability efforts across the state."

CalTravel is California’s only statewide organization that represents the full travel, tourism, and hospitality industry. It has 240 member organizations, including destinations, resorts, attractions, airports, transportation companies, cruise lines, universities, and more. CalTravel actively protects and advances the interests of California’s travel industry through advocacy, collaboration, and education. Their work with the state Legislature addresses key issues impacting the industry to ensure its continued growth and success.
