CONSULTATIONS, WORKSHOPS & SUPPORT TEAMS

Faculty are often among the first to notice students who are encountering overwhelming amounts of stress in their lives. This stress can seriously disrupt academic progress, personal relationships, and daily behavior.

The Personal Growth and Counseling Center is committed to empowering faculty to assist students to obtain the help they may need, while promoting campus safety and security.

The Counseling Center will be holding drop in consultation hours to assist faculty to identify and respond to concerning behaviors that students may exhibit. Join us on the following dates for an open discussion on how to successfully intervene with students who exhibit concerning behaviors.

Faculty support teams

CSUMB is currently developing a process for organizing Faculty Support Teams (FSTs) to provide faculty with guidance and support working with challenging student behaviors and/or classroom situations interfering with student learning. FSTs are intended for situations in which faculty interventions have not been successful and/or for severe behaviors. Details will be released later in the semester. In the meantime, faculty are encouraged to read the Personal Growth and Counseling Center's Helping Emotionally Distressed Students: The Role of Faculty and Staffas well as consulting with their department chair and/or dean.
