Students Apply CSUMB's Living Community Challenge Across Campus
Professor Victoria Derr's ENSTU 350 students are supporting CSUMB's Living Community Challenge. The Living Community Challenge is a framework for master planning, design, and construction. It is a tool to create a symbiotic relationship between people and all aspects of the built environment.
One transformative aspect of the Living Community Challenge is the way relationships with natural systems can be affirmed through biophilic design. As stakeholders in the campus and its future, students in ENSTU 350 are conducting a "photovoice" assessment of the campus to identify features that are biophilic or could be more so, and will conduct interviews with other campus stakeholders. This information will support a future campus charrette that will consider biophilic design in the context of CSUMB.
