MSCI Associate Professor Publishes Paper on Integrating Oceans into Climate Policy
Department of Marine Science Associate Professor - Dr. Corey Garza - along with 12 other authors from across the country, recently published their paper ‘Integrating oceans into climate policy: Any green new deal needs a splash of blue’ in Conservation Letters.
In this paper, they propose a “Teal Deal”, which includes oceans as a solution for climate change, as an alternative to terrestrial based Green New Deals. This Teal Deal outlines four areas of ocean-based climate solutions: renewable energy, sustainable transportation, food security, and habitat restoration.
