CSUMB Hosts National Oceanic Sciences Bowl

The National Oceanic Sciences Bowl (NOSB) is a nationally recognized and highly acclaimed high school academic marine sciences competition. Schools form teams of 4-5 students to compete in a quiz-bowl to win great prizes, scholarships, and a chance to compete at the national competition. CSUMB now hosts the Sea Lion Bowl, Central and Northern California's regional NOSB. The winner of the Sea Lion Bowl advances to the national championship round that is held in Washington D.C. Students, staff, and community members volunteered for the event to help enrich science teaching and ocean stewardship.

This year, Albany High School in Albany, CA, won the 2018 Sea Lion Bowl Championship in the Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions. Their Varsity team (pictured) will be heading to the national championship round that will be held April 19-21 on the campus of the University of Colorado, Boulder. They will represent the Northern and Central California region against 24 other teams from across the U.S.
