With a Ph.D. in Marketing and interdisciplinary backgrounds in biomedical science, veterinary medicine, and business, Dr. Lin's expertise spans consumer behavior, sensory decision-making, and pedagogical research. She has earned several notable awards recognizing her dedication to research and mentorship, including the CSUMB Faculty Award for Excellence in Discovery, Creation, and Integration (2019) and the CSUMB Academic Senate Faculty Award for Outstanding Mentor (2023 & 2024). Dr. Lin also serves as the Academic Director of CSUMB’s MBA Program, highlighting her commitment to academic leadership.

Dr. Lin was invited to share her insights as part of a November 18th Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (TLA) COOP workshop titled "Pedagogy, Scholarship, and Career Development," co-facilitated by Dr. Rixing (Tess) Lou, Dr. Choonghyoung (Alexis) Lee, and Dr. Xiaotong (Cate) Liu. Dr. Lin presented “Publishing Pedagogical and Interdisciplinary Research: Tips for Junior Faculty in Research and Teaching,” offering junior faculty practical advice on balancing research with teaching.

In addition to sharing her expertise on publishing and interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Lin guided junior faculty through practical strategies drawn from her multi-project experience, including case studies, pre- and post-design approaches, and subjective assessments. These strategies demonstrated how faculty could align their efforts to meet multiple categories under RTP—teaching, research, and service—ensuring a well-rounded academic profile.

Dr. Lin covered essential topics, including:

  • Publishing Pedagogical Research: Approaches for integrating teaching practices with scholarly pursuits;
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Strategies to foster cross-disciplinary partnerships;
  • Balancing Teaching and Research: Practical insights on time management and productivity;
  • Mentorship and Networking: Building impactful relationships with colleagues and students.

Her presentation provided junior faculty with actionable strategies for building research pipelines, achieving professional growth, and excelling in multiple RTP categories. It was a highly beneficial session for CSUMB’s junior faculty.
