The Hospitality and Tourism industry is an ever-evolving field, and keeping up with the latest trends and innovations is crucial for students pursuing a career in this field. That's why the HOSP 200: Introduction to Sustainable Hospitality and Tourism course at CSUMB is dedicated to providing students with real-world insights and experiences through its Adventures in Hospitality & Tourism Guest Speakers Series.

On March 7th, the students had the opportunity to learn from Chef Beat Giger, an industry veteran with over 32 years of experience in the field. Chef Giger's career took him around the world, and he retired as the Director of Special Events/Corporate Chef at Pebble Beach Company, where he managed all aspects of the resorts' special events, including logistics, food and beverage, and operations. What makes Chef Giger particularly special to the SHM program is his contribution to establishing the Special Events Management Team (SEMT) internship program at CSUMB. This partnership has allowed Sustainable Hospitality Management majors to gain hands-on experience in the special event management area at Pebble Beach Resorts, giving them a unique advantage in the job market.

The Guest Speakers Series is an integral part of the HOSP 200 course, providing students with the opportunity to learn from industry experts and gain insights into the latest trends and innovations in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. By bringing in guest speakers like Chef Giger, the SHM program at CSUMB is preparing its students for successful careers in this exciting and dynamic field.
