Dr. Dustin Wright

Dustin is a historian of modern Japan and East Asia. He has written on U.S.-Japan relations, social movements, food studies, and is completing a book on the history of anti-military base protests in Japan. In the classroom, he teaches introductory and advanced courses in the history and culture of the wider Asia-Pacific region. During the summer, he often guides students on research trips to Japan and Okinawa. As a proud product of public universities (PhD and MA in History, UC Santa Cruz; MA in Asian Studies, San Diego State University; BA in International Relations, Northern Arizona University), Dustin is focused on helping CSUMB students pursue careers in and connected to Asia (the most populous continent on the planet) and appreciate its fascinating history and contemporary societies.
