The Staff Council at Cal State Monterey Bay represents and advocates for staff, plans events that strengthen staff culture and morale, gathers and responds to ideas and suggestions, and supports the University administration in recognizing staff contributions. We are committed to promoting open communication and fostering a cohesive campus community where every staff member’s voice is heard.

Meetings and Events for Staff Council
Staff Council meetings are typically held on the third Wednesday of the month. Guest speakers are invited to encourage information exchange regarding budget, shared governance, or a variety of projects and programs on campus.
The 17 Staff Council Members meet on the first Wednesday of every month.

Staff Crafternoons
Sign up for a staff crafternoon session at the Maker's Space in the Library. Sessions are held from 1-2:30 pm on the first Friday of each month.

Thank you to all who supported the 2025 Staff Council T-Shirt Design Contest, whether you submitted a design, voted, purchased a shirt or hoodie or just enjoyed watching, a big THANK YOU TO ALL! Our winning design by Alana Sabatte, ASC II in the CAHSS Office of the Dean was featured on our apparel and our second runner up design by Tricia Moneypenny was made into stickers. Thanks to your support, we raised $1,240.39 going to staff events in 2025-26-congratulations and thank you!
About the 2025 Staff Council T-Shirt Fundraiser:
It's here! Our SECOND Staff Council t-shirt fundraiser is now LIVE! Get a great t-shirt designed by fellow staff member Alana Sabatte and show your otter pride!
Place your order before the April 2 deadline. We plan to distribute the shirts in late April (we should see them around the 22nd or so and will get the news out as soon as they arrive!). To place your order or flip through the available colors and options, visit the 2025 Staff Council T-Shirt Fundraiser page on Custom Ink. A few font tweaks were made to Alana's design for brand compliance.
T-Shirt Options
We're pleased to offer different options (basic tee, long sleeve, softer material v-neck, hoodie and tie dye-all with inclusive sizing) with prices between $25-$42, so there's something for everyone. All profits from the sale of these shirts will go towards our all-staff events. Pick up one, or more, today!
Contest Guidelines
Help us show our Otter Pride!
Gather your creative juices for the Second Annual Staff Council T-shirt Contest! Be a part of history by submitting your custom design!
The winning design will be printed on T-shirts that’ll be available for purchase in March. Proceeds from shirt sales will go towards future Staff Council events.
Once all entries are in, the Otter community will vote on their favorite designs. If your entry wins, you'll have mega bragging rights all year long and WIN:
- Otter Spirit Pack (Valued at $100)
- A T-shirt with YOUR design
Challenge:
Create a design representing CSUMB in some way to print on the front of the Staff Council-sponsored T-shirt (front only).
Rules:
- Your design must be no larger than 13” wide x 16” high, submission by digital format only
- Colors: You may use up to two (2) colors
- The following text must be included in your design: CSUMB or Cal State Monterey Bay
- Logo restrictions: No official CSUMB logos/logo modifications are to be used in any designs
- Design cannot include any form of profanity
- Design file should not exceed 5MB
- Contest open to all current staff members only (sorry MPPs, faculty, and student employees!)
Submission Instructions:
- Submit your design in PDF format using the Staff Council T-Shirt Design Contest form (form will go live on January 6!)
- You must be a current CSUMB staff member to enter (sorry, MPPs, faculty, and student employees!)
- Multiple submissions may be submitted
- Contest Deadline: February 6, 2025
- Full Planned Timeline:
- January 6-February 6: Design Contest (last day to submit is February 6)
- February 10-February 20: Voting Period
- February 21: Winning Design Announced
- February 26-March 26: T-shirts Available for Sale
- Mid to Late April: T-shirt Distribution (timeframe TBA once we have order shipment confirmation)
