The Center for Academic Technologies (CAT) sits at the intersection of teaching and technology at Cal State Monterey Bay.

Our mission is to empower innovative teaching and meaningful learning through the intentional integration of technology and evidence-based instructional practices.

How We Do It

We partner with our faculty to design engaging, accessible, and resilient learning experiences that support student success in every modality.

Instructional Design Support & Consultations

Our team of instructional designers and course accessibility specialists provides personalized support to help our faculty strengthen their courses and elevate student learning.

Instructional design is a systematic, research-based approach to developing instructional materials that improve learning outcomes.

Through one-on-one consultations, interactive course reviews, and Quality Matters-informed practices, we help faculty:

  • Design effective online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses

  • Align learning outcomes, activities, and assessments

  • Improve accessibility and inclusive design

  • Integrate technology in meaningful, student-centered ways

Schedule a consultation using our Google calendar self-scheduler or connect directly with a CAT instructional designer or accessibility specialist.
