CHHS ARIA Conference - Spring 2023

Our Spring 2023 CHHS Capstone presentation, the Applied Research Into Action (ARIA) Conference, took place on Friday, May 19, 2023 in Ocean Hall at the CSUMB Campus.  See program below to read about our recent students' projects.  Thank you for your support of our students' work!

About the CHHS Capstone Project

CHHS majors integrate what they have learned in the program and demonstrate their accumulated competence in the CHHS MLOs by completing a capstone project. This year-long learning experience satisfies the CSUMB Capstone and CHHS Professional Development requirements by providing students with an opportunity to build on their junior field experience and create an agency-based project that will provide tangible and sustainable benefits for the agency and the communities they serve.

To complete the CHHS Capstone, students work with their agency mentor and CHHS faculty instructor to develop, implement and assess a community-based project that focuses on an issue of importance identified by the student and their mentor. The capstone assignments are designed to provide opportunities for advanced and integrative academic research and professional development. Students will enhance their research skills through an in-depth analysis of their agency, the communities the agency serves, their system partners, and issues of importance, as well as “best practice” approaches to addressing the issue.

As part of their culminating experience in the CHHS Program, students showcase their field-based projects and contributions to their community in the Applied Research into Action (ARIA) Capstone Conference presented at the end of each semester.
