Every year Associated Students sends a few committee members to the Chico Sustainability Conference. This year Izabelle Woods, Sara Galindo, and Karina Abou-Chakra drove down. This year the students choose to focus on socio-political factors regarding climate change inaction, integrating sustainability into education, sustainable behavioural choices, and food access. Keynote speaker Dr. Daphne Miller, author of the bestselling book Farmacology, presenting the idea that a healthy farm is in itself medicine. Roger Doiron, founder of Kitchen Gardens International and the social media guru behind the people’s white house garden, presented the idea that the nation should plant vegetable gardens to provide ecological, food, and social justice to the people and the land.
