Launched in Fall 20204, The Foggy Otter Pep Band is an organization for musicians to collaborate with others at CSUMB, play in a low-stress environment, and create more pep at our university.

You’ve seen other university bands pump up tailgates and football stands—but let’s be honest, CSUMB marches to the beat of a different surf drum.
Here by the sparkling shores of Monterey Bay, we’re a one-of-a-kind student community, and our Foggy Otters Pep Band proudly carries that spirit like a sea breeze through campus.
You’ll find us jamming at hackathons, open house events, esports tournaments, volleyball games and any seaside celebration that sparks our creativity. Thanks to an undercurrent of student talent that’s often delightfully unexpected, we can rally joy and clever mischief in a way that might fluster your traditional, tightly regimented bands—but that’s what makes us distinctly Otters.
An electric mashup of wind ensemble, orchestra, rock-and-roll vibes, and maybe a hint of sea salt, we’re a quirky pack of musicians who master the collective sound of Otter pride and embrace the kaleidoscope of personalities on campus.
