These deadlines apply only to the Pre-acceptance phase. The Post-Acceptance phase must be completed by the mandatory Education Abroad pre-departure orientation.

  • January 6 - January 23 (3 weeks)

    Note: Communicate with your CSUMB professors to arrange completion of missing work due to overlapping program dates.

    • Minimum 2.0 GPA
    • Be in good standing with CSUMB
    • Submit complete application by deadline
  • The program consists of:

    • Seminars (in English) in:
      • Culture and Society
        • Art and Society
    • German language courses (all levels).
    • An introduction to German culture (history, politics, economy, music, art, cinema, and company visits).
    • Field trips to Berlin, Würzburg, Nürnberg, Kreuzberg and a cold war memorial site.
    • Extracurricular activities such as dance, cooking with German recipes, and sports.
    • Accommodation from the arrival day until the departure day in a hotel in Fulda (3-4 people in one room) - Included in program fee.
    • Extra charge applies for single and double rooms.
    • Breakfast is included. All rooms are with private bathrooms at a hotel in Fulda’s city center within 15 minutes walking distance from campus. More information on request.
  • Description Cost
    Program Fee* €1,990/Program fee waiver available for 6 CSUMB students (Fee waivers have already been granted) - Convert currency to US Dollars
    Fee waiver conditions Priority for program fee waivers will be given to students who have submitted a complete application, meet minimum requirements, and have received clearance from the Office of Judicial Affairs. Awards will be granted as applications are received.
    Education Abroad Application Fee (non-refundable) A $70 depository fee must be paid through your OASIS account. Under Finances select "Make a Payment", then select the "Study Abroad Application Deposit". (The $70 fee will be applied towards your Education Abroad Fee when you go abroad).
    Education Abroad Fee $250
    Health Insurance Insurance is charged at broker’s cost (approximately $75/16-31 days)
    Housing Included in program fee
    Meals Breakfast is included is provided. Students arrange other meals
    Round-trip Airfare Varies by departure location and date of purchase (ticket is purchased by the student)

    *Price is subject to change. Additional fees at host university may apply.

    **Cancellation policy: Students who withdraw/cancel their program participation after November 1st will be required to pay a €500 cancellation fee (this policy also applies to students who have been granted a fee waiver).

    • 1 Seminar: The seminar comprises 45 contact hours. All course materials included.
    • 1 Language Course: at your level, 30 contact hours in total, all course materials included.
    • Extracurricular Activities (2 workshops, Culture and Leisure)
    • Field trip to Berlin/ Point Alpha/Kreuzberg-Rhön Mountains.
    • Accommodation
    • Costs for any required field trips or activities
    • Optional field trips €50 each: Würzburg and Weimar
    • Domestic and International travel to and from Fulda
    • Meals and beverages (Hotel)
    • Personal spending
    • Refundable deposit for your room key (approx. 50€)

    *Please, make sure that you bring enough cash (€) with you on the day of arrival, to cover the additional costs (deposits) and to have some money for food and beverages during the first few days. Many shops do not accept credit cards.

About  the International Summer University

Experience the great atmosphere at International Winter University Fulda! Every winter, students from all over the world meet at Fulda University. Come along, make new friends, study together with your fellow students in an inspiring atmosphere, spend an unforgettable time together, and explore Germany with all its interesting and colorful features.

IWU is a joint project sponsored by Hochschule Fulda University of Applied Sciences, a publicly funded institution of higher education.

IWU's target group: Undergraduate and graduate students – those who are interested in global questions of Culture, Society and Economics and who would like to learn the German language or improve their language skills.

Apart from classes, workshops, and language courses, IWU students will go on regional and national field trips. Come with us and see fascinating German cities and landmarks. You will have the chance to see famous sites and learn more about Germany’s history and culture.
