a student enjoys art in the gallery

November 20, 2024

We're excited to share that the first exhibit of the 2024-25 academic year is now open and features student work!
Students of VPA 309: Materials & Methods, led by Performing & Visual Arts lecturer Juan Luna-Avin, present:
Imaginarium Exhibition November 18-December 12, 2024

Imaginarium is a student group exhibition that brings together work created in Visual & Public Art (VPA) 309 Materials and Methods, a complementary course to VPA 405 Senior Capstone. In VPA 309, graduating VPA majors refine their artistic practices in preparation for their Capstone projects.

Students are encouraged to work in their media of choice as they explore content and strengthen their ideas for Capstone. They also learn installation logistics, including how to measure, display, and light artwork and create exhibit labels. This hands-on experience will help students professionally present their work in a gallery setting for their spring Capstone group exhibition and beyond. Ultimately, this is an opportunity for them to sharpen their vision and deepen their commitment to their practices.

Participating Artists:  Ashley Brunetti, Ruby Cortes, Alan Dam, Clara Ellis, Collin Gallardo, Melanie Gatica, Cate Goldsberry, Maya Hernandez, Ellie Honkoski, Ashley Lagudas, Kay Mcgee, Amayah Norwood, Jose Quevedo, Gleidy Wetzel, and Maggi Wright

The exhibit will be on view at the CAHSS 504 Gallery NOW to December 12 (excluding the week of November 25-29, during which time the Gallery will be closed).  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm.

We hope you'll stop by to support our students and enjoy their work!
