CAHSS Graduation Stories: Alex Jensen, School of Humanities & Communication
Alex Jensen, a McNair Scholar, will graduate summa cum laude from CSU Monterey Bay with a BA in Human Communication, a concentration in peace studies, and a minor in music. Alex will attend Harvard Divinity School's Master of Divinity program this fall as a Dean’s Fellow. Alex’s research interests in moral injury in US wars and military ministry call him to pursue Unitarian Universalist military chaplaincy in his future ministry.
Alex first felt called to ministry in high school after joining a local Unitarian Universalist congregation in Fremont, CA. Alex's discernment led him to CSU Monterey Bay to study Human Communication. with its particular peace studies concentration in preparation for his future ministry. It also led him to participate in undergraduate research opportunities at CSUMB (Summer 2016) and Harvard Divinity School (Summer 2017), which further confirmed his call to military ministry. Alex's call to serve others spurs him to work particularly with underrepresented religious/spiritual and LGBTQ+ service members in the armed forces.
In addition, Alex was recently honored as the recipient of the 2018 Provost's Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement-Congratulations from all of us in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences!
