Josh Harrower, PhD, BCBA-D, is the Lawton Love Distinguished Professor of Special Education and Chair of the Department of Education and Leadership at California State University, Monterey Bay. Dr. Harrower has coordinated a number of state and federal grants providing professional development and technical assistance to schools, districts and county offices of education in the area of functional assessment, behavior intervention and positive behavior interventions and support (PBIS). Dr. Harrower has secured funding and provided support to grant funded projects totaling over $10 million in the areas of educator development, school climate transformation, school mental health, early intervention for autism and PBIS. Dr. Harrower is a founding member of California PBIS, serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions, and as an Editorial Board member for Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disorders. His research and conceptual articles have been published in scientific journals including the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions, the Research and Practice for Persons with Severe Disabilities, Preventing School Failure and Exceptionality. His primary areas of scholarship include state-wide PBIS scale-up efforts, functional behavior assessment and individualized behavior supports and pivotal response treatment.
