The Cal State Monterey Bay Human Resources team offers a variety of employee development programs. Whether you’re looking to brush up on software skills, boost your productivity, or challenge yourself to earn a new academic credential, we can help. 

Our on-demand learning resources include eLearning courses, webinars, podcasts, books, audiobooks, videos, and more. We also connect you with instructor-led training opportunities on campus and beyond.

Your Voyage: How to Participate in Training

Participation in any of these training opportunities is subject to approval by your manager. Completing any of these training programs does not guarantee advancement or increased compensation.

You are the captain of your ship, and your journey will include the following steps:

  • Reflect: Assess your interests, strengths, and goals
  • Explore: Research your development options
  • Discuss: Meet with your manager and HR to discuss opportunities that interest you
  • Apply: Complete HR forms and CSU applications
  • Request: Get approvals from your manager and CSUMB HR
  • Dedicate: Dedicate time to your development opportunities

You’ll find a variety of short-term, self-paced, on-demand options. Additionally, you have access to longer-term and more in-depth learning opportunities. 

Day Sail

Is your learning journey a short one? Do you want to make minor improvements to your raft? We have several options, from on-demand content to CSU’s Got Talent Webcasts. 

  • Self-Sail Trips involve on-demand resources, including videos, books, and online courses
  • Guided Sails include instructor-led courses, CSU Open University classes, and other live offerings

Are you looking for a career change and want to put your raft on a different current? We have resources for you, too: 

  • Career charting - a guided learning path to help you create a plan for career development
  • CSU degree and certificate programs - explore opportunities at CSUMB and other CSU campuses
    • The CSU fee waiver program can help eligible employees take classes at a reduced rate
