Eduardo M. Ochoa's History

Eduardo Ochoa became the third president of CSU Monterey Bay in 2012 and focused on the university’s role as a steward of the community. He told The Chronicle of Higher Education in 2018: “At CSUMB, we take responsibility for advancing our region socially, economically, and culturally … We have a strong mission of social equity and social justice and providing access (to education) for underserved communities.”

Holly Byers Ochoa's History

When Eduardo Ochoa arrived here to serve as president of CSUMB, the campus and the community gained an arts champion in Holly Byers Ochoa. She represented the Office of the President on the University Art Committee, which focuses on the visual arts in public spaces.

Holly has helped secure and direct scholarship funds from the local Soroptimists and Colonial Dames to CSUMB students over the past ten years, and she enjoyed being a bridge between the campus and larger community.
