National Coalition Building Institute
The National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) is a non-profit leadership training organization that works to eliminate prejudice and intergroup conflict in communities throughout the world. CSUMB is a Campus Affiliate of NCBI originally developed and led by Caroline Haskell, who was the Senior Director of Health and Wellness Services at the time.
Under the direction of the Personal Growth and Counseling Center, CSUMB has been a Campus Affiliate of NCBI since 1998. We provide an ongoing mechanism for staff, faculty, and students to provide an institutional response to racism and other forms of oppression. We have a group of student leaders, administrators, staff, and faculty who act as a "leadership team" that is fully empowered to take on tough campus issues.
For more information about becoming a member of the CSUMB Campus Affiliate of NCBI or for upcoming training dates, please contact us at (831) 582-3969 or e-mail: counseling_center@csumb.edu.
NCBI Welcoming Diversity Workshop
When: Every Semester. Keep an eye out for more information on the next training!
Time: 8:30am to 4:30pm
The NCBI Welcoming Diversity Workshop is an ideal training for CSUMB students, staff, faculty and other campus community members who wish to develop their multicultural sensitivity, challenge the preconceived notions we were all taught about various groups of people, learn to be better allies, and take pride in their own complex identities and cultural affiliations. Student leaders and members of identity-group organizations including employee affinity groups are especially encouraged to register.
