Who is rita zhang? rita zhang (she/her/hers) is a financial empowerment educator, facilitator, and coach. She brings 14+ years of social justice experience from movement-building, direct service, and education spaces to her financial work. She founded Community Roots Financials (CRF) to create and hold space for low-income and working class communities to be whole, joyful, and free through financial empowerment

Join the OC3 and METAS this semester as rita returns to bring insightful advice on how to manage your finances through three online workshops.

Feminism & Money with rita zhang

Acclaimed and widely recognized feminist thought leader bell hooks talked about feminism as the fight to "eradicate the ideology of domination…" which includes "…imperialism, economic expansion, and material desires….". Come to this session to discuss how our values of creating a gender equitable and inclusive world also means we have to have a critical lens on anti-capitalism and create a world where everyone's money needs are met. Womxn and femmes are especially encouraged to attend, and all are welcome.

Intro to Class, Classism, and Activism with rita zhang

Class is about money and more. Classism is when society is divided, and power is held at the top. Activism is what we can do to create the change we want! Come to this short workshop to get more educated on the abstract topic of class, identify your own positionality within it all, and generate some quick ideas on what you can do next as students.

Owing money is scary and anxiety-provoking! What if you can take control back and make debt work for you? This session will review the basics of student loans in accessible language as well as what to avoid after you graduate with student loans. Whether you already have loans or are considering taking out loans, come to this session to learn more! First gen students are especially encouraged to attend.
