Learning Outcomes
OC3 learning outcomes derive from our mission, vision, and values.
Integrating character and values to inspire others to engage in civic and communal social change. To be authentic in relationships by demonstrating meaningful dialogue, critical and empathetic listening, and promoting advocacy for the self and others. The ability to be recognized not by what one does but who they are.
Through participation in OC3 functions, students will discover social justice concepts, cultivate teamwork, and/or identify communication skills that advance self-advocacy and advocacy for others.
Demonstrating a connection to the world around them and the importance of intersectional identities. Acknowledging that communities express various identities and diversity, that none are monolithic, and that individual members hold multiple identities that shape their cultural and community engagements. To put into practice social empathy to build bridges across intolerance.
Through participation in OC3 functions, students will identify how cultural communities construct, develop, and/or sustain themselves through affirmation and resistance to various forms of oppression.
Establishing synergistic relationships with various campus members (faculty, staff, students, and alumni) to cultivate a collective vision towards critical consciousness, social justice, and inclusion that will foster leaders of change on and off campus.
Through participation in OC3 functions, students will collaborate with members of various campus communities to promote solidarity and/or critical consciousness in an increasingly diverse global world.
Willingness to take risks with promoting one’s authentic self, values, and beliefs through expanding our sense of purpose. Living courageously encapsulates the practices of learning, unlearning, and discovering the inner strength to stand up for social justice issues. It is the ability to name your own story into existence.
Through participation in OC3 functions, students will evaluate risks to collaborate in courageous conversations, develop one’s authentic self, and/or identify practices that interrupt systems of oppression.
Illuminating the intersections of sustainability and social justice by acknowledging the importance of various ecosystems (individual, environmental, societal) that impact our ability to endure. Promoting acts of self-care in social justice to ensure our energies are sustained.
Developing belongingness and achieving satisfaction in one’s professional and personal engagements. Through a commitment to change, it is the exploration of moral systems guiding beliefs and values while also building a foundation of self-knowledge.
Through participating in OC3 functions, students will discover the value, purpose, and authenticity in the work one does and/or life.
