Funding Support for Students and Student Organizations

The Helen Rucker Center for Black Excellence (HRCBE) provides funding to support the academic and professional success of students at CSUMB. Funding may be requested up to $250 for individuals(does not include emergency funding/resources) and up to $750 for student organizations, per academic year. In particular, HRC requested funds can be used to support:

  • Textbooks: HRC provides textbook support.
  • Conferences: HRC supports conference participation related to student academic fields, research, professional development, and collegiate organization membership.
  • Graduate School Preparation: HRC provides graduate school support in the form of counseling, school visits, test preparation and fees, and application fees.
  • Professional Organizations: HRC provides professional organization memberships (e.g. National Society for Black Engineers, Black Doctoral Network, etc.).
  • Program/Events: HRC provides funding to support the purchase of supplies, catering, and services for student organization programs/events.
  • Emergency Needs: HRCprovides funding and resources for students in urgent need. This includes meal vouchers, semesterly parking permits, and a very limited amount of needs based scholarships.

 

Eligibility Criteria

* Undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at CSUMB or student organization that is active and in good standing with the university

* Be in good academic standing or demonstrate urgent need for financial/resource support

* Demonstrate how this assistance will support your academic and professional success at CSUMB.

How to Reserve Our Space

The Helen Rucker Center is located in Redwood Hall(bldg. 12), Room 120. Cal State Monterey Bay affiliated organizations and groups are able to use our space for meetings and events. All space reservation requests are approved on a first come first served basis.
