There are 2 sources of benefits that students may be eligible to receive.
Federal VA Benefits include:
If you have not already done so, you first need to submit the online VA application to use a Federal VA Educational Benefit program. VA application processing can take between 8 - 10 weeks. Once your application has been processed, an official VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) letter confirming your benefit eligibility details will be mailed to you.
Please continue to our VA Benefit Processing page for information on how to use Federal VA Benefits at CSUMB.
State of California VA Department Benefit for Dependents:
-
- CalVet College Fee Waiver : the most common eligibility is a dependent of a veteran who has a service-connected disability. Other eligibility criteria can be found on their website.
Applications are processed by your local CA County Veterans Services Office. Once you receive a waiver authorization letter from your local County Veteran Service Office, please email, fax or drop it off at our office for processing.
Important notes:
-
- The CalVet College Fee Waiver does not waive any campus-specific fees. It only waives the state tuition fee charge.
- It cannot be used for Winter term courses.
- The CalVet College Fee Waiver cannot be used for programs offered through CSUMB Extended Education.
- You need to apply for a new waiver each academic year (starts with the Fall semester) and submit it to our office.
- You must be considered a California resident by CSU to use the waiver.
