The benefits of cultivating mindfulness on wellness, strengthening connections with others, and learning are well documented. TLA supports Health and Wellness Services mindfulness programs for CSUMB students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.

Mindful Mondays meet weekly!
TLA is hosting weekly drop-in mindfulness/meditation sessions for our campus community every Monday. Sessions include silent and guided meditations and mindfulness exercises to help mitigate stress and support wellness. Everyone is welcome.

Friday Drop-In Meditation also meets weekly!
TLA is also offering weekly Friday Drop-in meditation sessions with various themes, readings, music, and both guided and open meditation--a weekly option for taking a breath and transitioning to the end of your week and weekend. Everyone is welcome.

Mindfulness Cooperatives for Faculty and Staff
TLA is also offering for Faculty and Staff:
A 4-wk MIEA Intro to Mindfulness course (formerly known as Koru Basic) -- An introduction to mindfulness and meditation. Taught as a weekly, 75-minute class, over four weeks by one or more certified Koru Teachers. No experience is required.
A 4-wk MIEA Mindfulness, Part 2 course (formerly known as Koru 2.0) -- An “advanced” class for students who have completed MEIA Basic and are eager for more mindfulness. This course also consists of weekly, 75-minute classes, taught over four weeks by one or more certified MIEA Teachers.
A half-day Mindfulness Retreat for those seeking an immersive experience. This is a chance to step away from the noise of daily life, deepen connection to the present moment, and cultivate a profound sense of inner peace. Our team can offer multiple versions of this retreat, including the process created by MEIA (formerly known as Koru).
A 4-wk Real Happiness Meditation cooperative for stress mitigation and self-compassion based on Sharon Salzberg’s Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation and other resources. No experience is required and drop-ins are welcome. Other themes are also possible.

MIEA Guided Meditation App for your use
The Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults (MIEA, formerly known as the Center for Koru Mindfulness) is offering a self-guided meditation tool to everyone. Signing up will give you access to all the guided skills and meditations. - You Should Meditate Every Day: Sure, it’s become a wellness fad. But it’s the best way I’ve found to keep digital monsters at bay.
- The 8 Minute Meditation: This is a very readable, simple, and practical approach to meditation. If you do not consider yourself to be the "meditating type," this book is for you. Request a free copy from TLA, while supplies last (email tla@csumb.edu).

The holistic wellness and integrative learning paradigm was developed by a cross-divisional team of CSUMB faculty, student affairs professionals, and administrators who participated in the 2017 AAC&U Institute on Integrative Learning and Signature Work. Learn more here.
